The Magic Beans

Hi my friend,

Although this is still the season
of winter here in Latvia,
there is that spark of electricity
in the air…

That spark of
a new beginning.

Do you feel it too?

It’s like stepping outside
just before sunrise.
When the world is not
fully awake yet.

Everything is still dark and quiet.
But no longer asleep.

It’s that feeling of hope
and anticipation…
That curiosity and wondering
of what this new day
has in her pocket
for you.

That’s New Year’s.

Not a grandiose event.
But a moment at dawn.
In the dark…

When you can only see
the faintest blush of pink in the sky.
But you know that the sun will soon be here,
and all the busyness of the day
will follow her.

But for now…
It’s just you and the vast
morning sky.

And how could you not make wishes
with so much magic in the air?
Even if it’s still winter
outside your door.

This is where
the harvest begins.

When all you really have
are a handful of magic beans
warm in your palm, and you
get to decide what to do
with them.

This isn’t the start.
It’s the moment before it.
Where nothing is visible yet,
but you’re choosing
the direction.

So what will you plant,
my friend?

What magic do these
beans hold?

With love,
Elina
